Wingers And The Born Conspiracy

According to the World Nut Daily (motto: “Making The National Enquirer Seem Credible Since 1997″) someone whose fake name and fake doctoral title is “Dr Ron Polarik” is claiming to be an “imaging guru” and has called Obama’s certification of live birth (COLB), “a fake”.

“A computer imaging expert, who examined the “Certification of Live Birth” of Barack Obama’s campaign posted online to rebut charges he is ineligible to be president due to the Constitution’s “natural born citizen” requirement, says it’s a fake, and further, that such fraud is criminal.

The Obama campaign has told WND such allegations are “garbage,” but Dr. Ron Polarik, who holds a Ph.D. in instructional media and is a “guru” on computer technology such as printers, scanners and digital imaging, disagrees.”

Well, I’m the first to admit my Luddite status, so I turned to other imaging experts, with actual qualifications, and discovered that Polarik (gasp!) speaks with forked tongue.

According to Dr Neal Krawetz,

“In my previous blog entry, “Bad Science: How Not To Do Image Analysis“, I debunked the work of an anonymous troll who called himself “TechDude”. TechDude used a sample biased, false data, and artifacts created by his own tools to conclude that the Obama certificate of live birth (COLB) was fake. TechDude also used false credentials (he impersonated another person) in order to sound authoritative. Following my public critique of his report and outing of the impersonation, TechDude vanished. Even his strongest supporter, “Texas Darlin”, pulled all of TechDude’s reports from her blog. TechDude was a fraud and used bad science to support a false conspiracy.

“Today, there is only one person who continues to propagate the “COLB is fake” conspiracy. He calls himself “Ron Polarik” (an anonymous pseudonym — not his real name), and he also uses bad science to support his claims.”

Dr Krawetz and his colleagues go into great, science-y detail while debunking Polarik’s claims, and they are most certainly worth a careful reading.

However, after all the whining wingers do about no-one “vetting” Obama thoroughly, you’d think they’d have checked this guy out. According to the authority, i.e. himself, Polarik’s qualifications are listed thusly:

“My PhD is in Instructional Media and Experimental Psychology (dual major).”

After a brief Google search, I was unable to find ANY dual major Doctorates in Instructional Media and Experimental Psychology, but who am I to doubt the word of a “guru”?

It seems “Polarik” has been working this “fake COLB” angle for a while now in a desperate gambit for attention. In a long comment on texasdarlin’s blog, Polarik declares that he was both “the first to prove that Obama’s COLB image is a forgery” and, pricelessly, he also claims to have been “the only one who did it honestly”.

That’s right, Polarik is assuming that everyone at Politifact, FactCheck, the Annenberg Center, the Govt of Hawaii, the DNC and the RNC, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court, are in on it.

It would seem “Polarik” has many, many gifts, not least rampant paranoia. He has also claimed to be a “handwriting analyst” on the Free Republic, coincidentally the same day the alleged Indonesian primary school registration page image appeared!

In case anyone might think I’m being unkind and taking Polarik’s words out of context, here is the original quote from the boards at the Free Republic:

“As a handwriting analyst, I can say with some certainty, that two people wrote on this record book.”

Quite the polymath, this Polarik fellow! This is the video he says “proves” conclusively that Obama’s COLB is a fake, and therefore Barack Obama is a… what exactly?

His mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was an American citizen, and, although it has been repeatedly proven he was born in Hawaii here and here, as Constance so ably pointed out, this is all rather daft.

Polarik also gravely claims that he has had to disguise his voice and appearance because of “threats” he has received, though the exact details are left up to the imagination, just like those surrounding his “PhD”. I’m guessing the threats are being received via the fillings in his teeth, but if he wants to up the drama ante and delay the moment of his hilarious unmasking as a fraudulent douchebag, who are we to complain?

It’s not even a very original conspiracy theory. After all, we remember the conspiratorial whispers that McCain was born in Panama, specifically on a military base within the Panama Canal Zone, but lacked all of the required documents to “prove” he was a “real” American. Interestingly, Snopes was unable to resolve McCain’s eligibility, however, in April 2008, the U.S. Senate passed a non-binding resolution declaring McCain eligible to be President.

Interestingly, the HIPAA Privacy Rule (under the Health Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) restricts the release of “protected health information”. There is no protected health information on the birth certificate Obama published, and so Hawaiian officials would not be restricted from commenting on because of HIPAA. They are, however, restricted by Hawaiian law, specifically §338-18 Disclosure of records

So, why doesn’t Barry Hussein just release the damned birth cert, already? Well, probably for the same reason I wouldn’t: Obama has proved his eligiblity to the people who matter, so frankly, the shrieky nutbags can fuck off. And having read Phil Berg’s totally specious lawsuit, which is full of “when did you stop beating your wife” innuendo and “proof” of COLB fraud from numpties like TechDude (debunked) and Polarik (a nanosecond from being debunked), I agree with President-elect Obama.

And frankly, given the state of the country, I very much hope he is busy fixing this Bush-inflicted miasma, and not wasting time answering stupid questions from morons. Which would also explain why Fox News hasn’t gotten much joy during question time at press conferences.

In Dr Polarik’s defense, fraud does seem to be his oeuvre! Which is my old fashioned way of calling Ron Polarik a big fat liar.

The Dogoods challenge “Dr Ron Polarik” to produce his birth certificate and his “doctoral” certificate, issued, no doubt, from the University of Walter Mitty, and offer them up to national speculation. After all, the man is such an immense coward that he is hiding behind a fake name, a fake doctorate, and is going so far as blurring out his image and disguising voice on camera.

What do you have to hide, “Ron”? Perhaps you’re an agent of Iran? Or I dunno, Al Qaeda?

I have been arguing the same thing to these nuts on you tube.

I dont understand why these nuts want Obama to prove what has already been proven, but dont ask the good doctor to prove his credentials.

    Perhaps there is NATIONAL CONSENSUS on the following;

    A. There ARE eligibility requirements to be President IAW the Constitution.

    B. Someone (Many) has (have) the responsibility to ENSURE eligibility requirements are met.

    C. An ineligible candidate should NOT hold the office of the President.

    OK, here’s the rub;

    1. What are the requirements for POTUS? Why are they what they are?

    2. Who was obligated to ensure only valid Presidential candidates were put before the voting citizenry?

    3. Here’s the zinger, what do you do after an election and prior to inauguration to ensure a candidate has met the requirements?

    My take-

    1. Natural born citizen, at least 35 years of age, and a resident of 14 years (short and sweet). I support the framers’ contention “natural” born meaning born on US territory to parents (plural) of American citizenship. The contention ensures against ANY questions regarding foreign loyalties. “Natural” is founder language specifically addressing unambiguous ALLEGIANCE to this Nation.

    2. Candidate is obligated upon demand to provide proof of eligibility to political national committee and State Election Officers (those responsible for setting the ballot).

    3. Candidate that is seeking office (and taxpayer salary) is obligated to prove without doubt his/her eligibility to assume office (especially in cases of where questions indicate otherwise), the US congress can refuse to accept the votes from the electoral college until such undeniable proof is given, and lastly, the courts can compel relevant parties to submit to said obligations or duties.

As far as the birth certificate questions, natural born, and whatever else is bugging you about Mr. Obama’s candidacy…it’s the courts or nothing (ambiguity).

Additional thoughts from a dumb active duty American Soldier-

    1. We live in a constitutional republic. Period. Republics derive their validity based on the rule of law. Folks who cry “will of the people” and pick and choose which rules are to be obeyed or ignored are treading a path of potential tyranny (at the very least an illegitimate government). Ask yourself if you want President Bush to hold a third term contrary to the 22nd Amendment.

    2. Mr. Obama’s birth certificate issue is a clever ploy to obfuscate the true measure of his eligibility to be President. He is/was a constitutional lawyer; He’s stated that he is a “native” born American with dual citizenship; There should be no doubt he understood ambiguity existed as to his constitutional eligibility to hold the office of the President regarding Article II. The obligation is upon those that SEEK public office to prove eligibility beyond a shadow of a doubt (to self and constituency). To swear an oath to protect, uphold, and defend the Constitution to hold that office with knowing that ambiguity existed is criminal and disingenuous.
If you are unaware, the Constitution refers to only two kinds of Americans: citizens and natural born citizens. Citizens are either native born or naturalized. Only ONCE is it mentioned the term “natural born citizen” in the entirety of the United States Constitution…in reference to the requirement for holding the Office of President (and Vice-President).

    3. Who should care that candidates meet eligibility requirements to hold office? Why is it important that requirements are created, expected, and complied? What are the consequences in this situation for malfeasance / misfeasance regarding the highest guiding document of our Nation? What would our founding fathers say about this current situation? What are we doing for the future of our Nation when we shirk the responsibilities of the present? Can an ineligible candidate that has assumed office give a “lawful order” to the United States Armed Forces?

Answers to questions I and others have asked-

Something I only recently understood (remember I’m a dumb Soldier) is WHY the framers, the courts, the congress, and EVERY President to date considered the phrase “natural born citizen” to be SELF EVIDENT and not requiring definition. It is now clear to me why- “natural” (having unambiguous ALLEGIANCE to the Nation) “born” (native of these lands we call the United States) “citizen” (American).

Mr. Obama is the first candidate EVER to have the presumption to run for office with ADMITTED dual citizenship. EVER. Let that sink in…the Founding Fathers would have crapped themselves.

If you wonder what a naturalized citizen means…to become a citizen through oath of ALLEGIANCE and intent for residency in the United States. A (native born) citizen is not required to swear an oath and derives their citizenship through place of birth or citizenship of parent(s).

Hey Pieter (South African or Dutch?)

I had dual nationality through my parents as an accident of birth, but it’s not something you get to keep without a great deal of paperwork from both the US and the other country involved. As we can see from Factcheck.org:

“When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.’s children:

British Nationality Act of 1948 (Part II, Section 5): Subject to the provisions of this section, a person born after the commencement of this Act shall be a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies by descent if his father is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies at the time of the birth.
In other words, at the time of his birth, Barack Obama Jr. was both a U.S. citizen (by virtue of being born in Hawaii) and a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (or the UKC) by virtue of being born to a father who was a citizen of the UKC.

Obama’s British citizenship was short-lived. On Dec. 12, 1963, Kenya formally gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Chapter VI, Section 87 of the Kenyan Constitution specifies that:

    1. Every person who, having been born in Kenya, is on 11th December, 1963 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person shall become a citizen of Kenya on 12th December, 1963…

    2. Every person who, having been born outside Kenya, is on 11th December, 1963 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person shall, if his father becomes, or would but for his death have become, a citizen of Kenya by virtue of subsection (1), become a citizen of Kenya on 12th December, 1963.
As a citizen of the UKC who was born in Kenya, Obama’s father automatically received Kenyan citizenship via subsection (1). So given that Obama qualified for citizen of the UKC status at birth and given that Obama’s father became a Kenyan citizen via subsection (1), it follows that Obama did in fact have Kenyan citizenship after 1963. So The Rocky Mountain News was at least partially correct.

But the paper failed to note that the Kenyan Constitution prohibits dual citizenship for adults. Kenya recognizes dual citizenship for children, but Kenya’s Constitution specifies that at age 21, Kenyan citizens who possesses citizenship in more than one country automatically lose their Kenyan citizenship unless they formally renounce any non-Kenyan citizenship and swear an oath of allegiance to Kenya.

Since Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1982. ”

It’s pretty simple when you read the small print, or actually have friends from other countries.

The people who still cling to the myth that Obama has shown his original birth certificate on the Internet are so desperate to prove me wrong that they would rather listen to fools than to facts. Predictably, what is posted here is the vicious rumor that has been bandied about, claiming that I’m a “fraud,” that I “don’t exist,” and that my final report is “bunk.”

The joke’s on them. however, as the person who got this this rumor started never even read my final report, is totally clueless about my research, and hopelessly confused about the entire birth certificate controversy.

The rumormonger, aka Neal Krawetz, has managed to use his lofty-sounding but irrelevant credentials, to fool people into thinking that his lies, slurs, baseless conclusions, and fabricated images actually refute my research when, in fact, they repudiate his credibility.

Krawetz is living proof that paper credentials do not convey credibility or competence. If Krawetz tells you that he’s read my final report, then he’s lying through his teeth as he did throughout his “Bad Science” screed. All you have to do is to read my final report and then read his “Bad Science” screed, to know the truth.

I received my Masters before Krawetz was ever born, and my Doctorate while he was still in grade school. My research speaks for itself, and I have legitimate reasons (regarding my job) for not revealing my credentials. So, if you don’t read my final report, then you don’t have the right to knock it as Krawetz has done.

My final report, the one that Krawetz never read, can be seen here: http://polarik.blogtownhall.com. It is 160 printed pages and contains 140 COLB-related images, or about 138 more than Krawetz used. Whether Krawetz likes it or not, it puts to rest the ridiculous notion that a genuine copy of Obama’s paper Certification of Live Birth was ever posted online.

My point-by-point debunking of Krawetz’s bogus review of my report and his slanderous attacks can be seen on my alternate blog, http://bogusbirthcertificate.blogspot.com. You don’t need to have any credentials to read and understand the report.
