I rarely go to the Free Republic site, not because their views shock me (after 8 years, who can be?) but because the site itself is so devoid of any adornment, it’s just wall-to-wall shag pile krazy in there.
It reminds me of that scene in David Fincher’s film, Seven, when Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman discover the home of the nameless serial killer and in it all of his notebooks, filled to the margins with tiny words transcribing his spiraling madness.
Like that, only with bad spelling and random capitalization of letters.
However, it was during a recent visit to the internet’s modern day Colney Hatch that I stumbled upon this blog, pricelessly titled “Men For Palin”, railing against Hillary’s mooted nom for Sec of State because Bill’s Presidential library in Arkansas received Saudi money and some contributions from the Emirs of the UAE, among thousands of others.
You know, I’m convinced there was another recent president with very close ties to the Saudis, George something. Wait, wait, don’t tell me…
According to the communists at Think Progress:
“In Nov. 2006, the New York Daily News reported that Bush hoped to get roughly $250 million in “megadonations” from some key allies:
Bush loyalists have already identified wealthy heiresses, Arab nations and captains of industry as potential “mega” donors.
Based on history, there may already be some specifics. Bush 41’s presidential library received donations from a sheik from the UAE, who contributed at least $1 million, the “state of Kuwait, the Bandar bin Sultan family, the Sultanate of Oman, King Hassan II of Morocco and the amir of Qatar. The former Korean prime minister and China also gave tens of thousands of dollars to the library.”
So how does that make Hillary any less qualified to be Sec of State? Or more “compromised” than any person closely involved with the Bush family (pere et fil)?
Logic. Pah, who cares when you have this sort of hilarious shenanigans going on? The site, “Men For Palin” is dedicated to Sarah Palin (obvs) and her adopted mantra of “drill now”. From the fawning on the site, I can see exactly where these two male bloggers want to drill.
Best of all, they are “in the tank” for someone who has made a name for herself by sliming her political rivals, most memorably calling President-elect Barack Obama, “a Socialist”, (like she’d have the first clue what that meant as a political philosophy) and decided to put this up as their banner.
Conservatives who claim to hate Socialism and love Sarah Palin have put up something as muscular and Soviet as this banner. Awesome. Stay tuned for more Men For Palin hilarity…
